Dennis was the oldest of five children born to Dennis Curtis and Louisa Carolina (Williams) York. He married Hazel Gertrude McMasters in 1937 and they were the parents of seven children: Jessie Curtis, Eva Mae (twin), Treva Faye (twin), Dennis Patterson Jr., Larry James, Hazel Ann and Melvin Dean.

STALEY — Dennis Patterson York Sr., 94, of 557 York Country Drive, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at the Universal Health Care in Ramseur.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Larry Martin and the Rev. Bill Rice. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Randolph County, he was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel York; and daughter, Ann Pless.
Survivors are sons, J.C. York of Sneads Ferry, Dennis Patterson York Jr. of Clover, S.C., Larry James York of Staley, Melvin Dean York of Seagrove.; daughters, Eva Mae Bates of Randleman and Treva Faye Miller of New Bern; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur, other times at the residence.
