Mary Daniels Phillips, wife of Pitts Phillips, was not the daughter of John Daniels and Betsey Horton. There were two Mary Daniels Phillips who lived in Oakland County, Michigan. One was married to Pitts Phillips and the other was married to Luther Phillips. [See the 1850 census of Southfield, Oakland, Michigan, for Mary Phillips (widow of Pitts) and the 1850 census of Bloomfield, Oakland, Michigan, for Polly Phelps (wife of Luther).] I believe the daughter of John Daniels and Betsey Horton was Mary, wife of Luther Phillips, for two reasons: (1) the death record of the other Mary Phillips (wife of Pitts) lists her parents as John and Mary (not Betsey) Daniels, and (2) Hiram Daniels, a known son of John Daniels and Betsey Horton, lived in Bloomfield, Oakland, Michigan, where the family of Luther Phillips lived.
