Eliza Shields Brown was the daughter of John Shields and Jane Barr Filloon Shields. She was born in Pennsylvania, moved to Ohio about 1830. She married Christopher Brown about 1830 in either Pennsylvania or Ohio. Eliza and Christopher had at least 9 children in Ohio. In 1853 Eliza, her husband Christopher and her younger children moved to Cedar County, Iowa.
