Nancy Caroline was the daughter of Rev. Calvin and Maria Sampson Lowry. She married Luther Revels on Dec. 25, 1902 in Robeson County, North Carolina. Their marriage produced two sons and eight daughters (two daughters, Bessie and Johnnie, died in infancy).

She was the last surviving child of Calvin and Maria Sampson Lowry and lived the longest, passing away about five months prior to what would have been her 103rd birthday.
