Mrs. L.C. Sawyer

Mrs. L.C. Sawyer, 68, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Andy Hensley, Fordtown.

She was a native of Madison County, N.C. She had lived in Sullivan County for the past 25 years and was a member of Kendricks Creek Methodist Church for 20 years.

Survivors include her husband, L.C. Sawyer, Fordtown; seven daughters, Mrs. Andy Hensley, Mrs. Sam Fulkerson, Mrs. Carson Overbey, Mrs. Roy Talbert, Mrs. Fred Moats, and Mrs. Bryce Bailey, all of Kingsport, and Mrs. Clark Hensley, Greeneville, Tenn.; two sons, Ralph and Clyde Sawyer, both of Kingsport; three sisters, Mrs. Stokes Thomas, Bryson City, N.C., Mrs. Ethel Louder, Concord, N.C., and Mrs. E.J. Sawyer, Asheville, N.C.; one brother, Leonard Roberts, Charlotte, N.C.; 24 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Kendricks Creek Methodist Church, Rev. Roland Light, Rev. Jess Kiestler, and Rev. James Beasley, Jr., will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body was taken to the residence at Fordtown today at 11 a.m. where it will remain until the service. Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home is in charge.
