L.C. Sawyer

L.C. Sawyer, 79, Fordtown, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holston Valley Community Hospital following a long illness.

He was born in Madison County, N.C., and had lived in Sullivan County for the past 42 years. He was a farmer, a member of the Kendricks Creek Methodist Church and was an honorary steward of the church.

Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Clark Hensley, Greeneville, Mrs. Andy Hensley, Fordtown, Mrs. Sam Fulkerson, and Mrs. Carson Overbay, both of Colonial Heights, Mrs. Roy Talbert, Frs. Fred Moats, and Mrs. Bryce Bailey, all of Kingsport; two sons, Clyde Sawyer, Fordtown, and Ralph Sawyer, Kingsport; one sister, Mrs. Roy Henderson, Hot Springs, N.C.; 24 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the Kendricks Creek Methodist Church with Rev. Roland Light, Rev. Homer Roller and Rev. Ronald Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Kendricks Creek Cemetery.

The body will be returned to the home of Andy Hensley, Fordtown, at 3 p.m. Thursday from Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home.
