He enlisted as a private soldier in the Continental Army at the age of sixteen & fought in the battle of Yorktown. After the war, he moved to Kentucky (1783) and settled in Fayette County. He was Major in Gen. Wilkinson's expeditions against Indians in 1791. He was Colonel in the War of 1812.
