Junior Johnson, age 82, formerly of Wanette, OK passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011, in Stillwater, OK. He was born to parents, D.D. and Jewel (Fanning) Johnson, on March 30, 1929 in Wanette. Junior was raised in Wanette and was a 1947 graduate of Wanette High School. He joined the US Army in 1948. Junior married Alpha Statzer on May 5, 1950, in Wanette. Following their marriage they moved to Bartlesville in 1956 and lived there for 54 years, until moving recently to Stillwater, OK. He worked as an Accountant for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, retiring after 30 years of service. Junior was a 32° Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of the Wanette Lodge, later transferring to Shawnee Lodge #107. He was a perfectionist in all aspects of his life. He enjoyed wood working and was meticulous in his lawn care. His family and work were the focal points of his life. Junior was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, J.B. Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Alpha Johnson of the home; two sons, Philip Johnson, Stillwater; Ken and Lisa Johnson, Spring, TX; four grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Mishelle Johnson, Angela Johnson, and Jeff Johnson; four great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Johnson, Norman; and many friends and family. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until noon, Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh. Visitation will resume at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Wanette. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Wanette First Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Ashworth officiating. Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
