Mrs. Lester (Bertha G. Banning) Higgins, 75, of Decatur, formerly of Shelbyville, died 9:15 p.m. Tuesday (March 20, 1990) in Decatur Memorial
Hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Lockart & Sons Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Memorials: American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Higgins was born in Cowden, daughter of Charles and Sara Banning. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She married Lester Higgins in 1934. He died in 1980.

Surviving are her daughters, Beverly Barber of Decatur; Janice Walker of Rochester; brother, Forrest Banning of Cowden; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
