BENNINGTON - Antoinette M. "Toni" Silver, 88, died May 16, 2011, at Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington.

She was born May 5, 1923, in Bennington, the daughter of Eugene and Deneige (Thibault) Boutin, and received her education at Sacred Heart School.

She married Francis "Red" Silver on Feb. 26, 1949. Mr. Silver died in 2010.

In earlier years, Mrs. Silver was employed at several local woolen mills, including the EZ Mill. She worked for 11 years at Union Carbide Corp. in Bennington and later in food service for Bennington Public School System. She was known for her pea soups and pork pies.

She was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary, a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, and she supported many charities.

Survivors include three sons, Charles of Bennington, Michael of North Bennington and Patrick Silver of East Concord; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.

The funeral will begin with a prayer at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 20, at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home and followed by the Mass at 11 a.m. at Vermont Veterans Home All Faiths Chapel.

Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at the funeral home.
