Edward J. "Tony" Boutin

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Edward J. "Tony" Boutin were held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church Tuesday, July 19, 2005, where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by the Rev. Edward T. Preskinis, c.s.c., pastor, officiating.

Organist was Donald McMahon and Soloist was Monica Murray. Hymns offered during the service were "Be Not Afraid," "On Eagles' Wings," "Table of the Lord," and "Here I Am Lord."

The funeral pall that covered Mr. Boutin's casket during the funeral Mass was placed by two of Mr. Boutin's nieces, Denise Lloyd and Marita Bonnier. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by a niece, Carol Pineau.

The scriptural readings were offered by Denise Lloyd and Marita Boutin. The offertory gifts were presented by Mr. Boutin's three great-nephews, Charles, Nathan and Phillip Bonnier. A eulogy written by a niece, Rita Alexander of Berkeley, Calif., was offered by a niece, Andrea Pineau. Acolytes were James Kempf, Leonard Anzivino, Barth Vander Els and Francis Sausville.

Bearers were six nephews, Joseph Pineau, Duncan Lloyd, James Bonnier, Daniel Alexander, Charles Silver and Donald Howard.

The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Preskinis offering the committal prayers.

Military taps were offered by Maurice Rancourt. The American flag was folded by Lew Levin and Joseph Krawczyk and presented to Denise Lloyd.

A reception followed at the Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Parish Center.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral Mass. Following the prayer Marita Bonnier read the poem "God's Garden Must Be Beautiful."

Monday evening the wake service was offered by the Rev. Michael Demasi.

Edward J. "Tony" Boutin, 76, a resident of Bennington and formerly of Saint Paul, Minn., died Saturday, July 16, 2005, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home 628 Main St., Bennington.
