He was born on September 10, 1922 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Junius Ray Taylor and Mabel Owen. He grew up on 8th Street in Ogden, attended Ogden City Schools, and Ogden High School. He had a great family life and he loved to hunt and fish with his brothers. He loved his mother's and his wife's home-cooked food.
He served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Barnstable Attack Ship. He retired from the US Postal Service after 35 years of government service. The most important event in his life was his marriage to Vivian Fowers on July 19, 1950 which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had a wonderful life together, and he greatly missed her when she passed away in 1992. They were blessed with three children, Linda (George) Sadowski, Salt Lake City; Janet (David) VanDeGraff, Layton; Douglas (Carlene) Taylor, West Warren; ten grandchildren, Michael, Sonia, Matthew, Garrett, Jared, Janae, Shelley, Kari, Nathan, and Nicole; and seven great-grandchildren.
His family was the joy of his life. He developed lifelong friendships as a member of the Roy 7th Ward in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many church callings, he especially enjoyed Home Teaching and working at the Ogden Temple. He was physically active his entire life, from walking as a mail carrier to going to the gym. He was truly a man without guile.
Survivors include his children and one brother, Gilbert O. Taylor. He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother, Josiah Taylor, and three sisters, Melba McBride, Delores Loveland, and Marilyn Taylor.
