Glendale, Calif., Feb. 3 (AP) - Edna Stengel, widow of the Hall of Fame baseball manager, died today after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Stengel was 83. Casey Stengel died in 1975 and even then his widow was too ill to attend the funeral. She had suffered a stroke months before.
The Stengels were married in 1924 and always made their home in Glendale.
Funeral services were pending.
The Stengels had no children and Mr. Stengel had been deeply saddened by his wife's illness. He credited her with getting him into the banking business, which helped to make him a millionaire.
Stengel's New York Yankees of 1949-60 won 10 American League pennants and seven World Series titles. After that, he became manager of the expansion New York Mets. Mrs. Stengel had a World Series ring from the Mets' championship year of 1969 when her husband was a vice president of the team.

Edna's parents and three siblings are interred at Grand View Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif.
