Funeral services for Solomon B. Cornelius, who died at his home in Eustace Sunday morning at 5 o'clock, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Church in Eustace.The services were conducted by the Rev. Keith Kellow of Eustace, The Rev. Grady Hollonquist of Rusk, the Rev. J.W. Williford of Eustace and the Rev. Kermit Hollingsworth of Athens. Burial was in the Moorehead Cemetery at Eustace.Pallbearers were Everett Morton, J.T. Morton, Milburn Morton, E.E. Cornelius, Jr., Don B. Cornelius and Claude Sowell.The Hassell & Foster Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.Mr. Cornelius was born on October 20, 1861, in Ashville, Alabama, and came to Eustace on January 1, 1908. He had resided there since then, and in the home in which he died for thirty-five years.He was married to the former Miss Emma Chote in Ashville in January 1890. He had been a member of the Methodist Church for more than thirty-five years, and was active in the affairs of his community.Surviving are his wife; eight sons, Luther Cornelius of Baytown, E.E. Cornelius Sr. of Athens, Finis Cornelius of Celina, Hoyt Cornelius of Austin, Herman Cornelius of Baytown, Alton Cornelius of Goose Creek, Vernon Cornelius of Groves, and Willard Cornelius of Dallas; one daughter, Mrs. Chloe Morton of Eustace; two brothers, Joel Cornelius of Oneonta, Alabama, and Willard Cornelius of Ashville; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
