Obituary:
Nola Mae Thompson was born August 18, 1941 in Erick, Oklahoma to Bessie Mae and Paul Nolen Webster. She passed away May 16, 2011 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 28 days.

Nola grew up in the Breaks south of Erick and attended Hibbard School. She later graduated from Erick High School. She was married to Jerry Allen Thompson in her parents home at Erick, Oklahoma on November 7, 1959. They lived in Amarillo and Pampa, Texas before moving to Erick and then Altus where she graduated from Beauty School. They moved to Sayre where she owned and operated Nola's Beauty Shop for a number of years while keeping books for her and Allen's trucking company. In her younger years, Nola was an avid horseman and won numerous awards competing in barrell racing. She was extremely talented playing the steel guitar, singing and writing poetry. Nola was known for speaking her mind. Her infectious laugh and her love for lots and lots of "bling" will always be missed. She was truly a person who never met a stranger.

She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents. You can see her grandparents on her mothers side by clicking in her mothers name (link) Bessie Mae Satterfield Short was her grandmother so you see she carried on her grandmothers name as well as her mothers.
She is the cousin of Derlene Short who is the daughter of William Odis Short.

She is survived by her husband, Allen, of the home; 1 Brother-In-Law, David Thompson and wife, Betty, Rolland, OK; 1 sister-in-law, Novella Thompson, Cordell, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.


Service:
Services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Rose Chapel, Sayre, Oklahoma officiated by Brother Charlie Floyd.

Cemetery:
Burial will be at Erick Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
