James Gordon Cruse
Funeral services for James Gordon Cruse, age 23, of Rt. 3, La Porte City, were held December 30, 1967, at the American Lutheran Church, at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Thoms officiating. Burial was at West View Cemetery with military rites. Pallbearers were Larry Bauer, Gary Gates, Steven Payne, William Fleck Jr., Jack Lesh and Dalton Kowalsky.
Cruse died December 27, 1967 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born June 12, 1944 at Colville, Washington. He was a graduate of the la Porte City High School and served three years in the Army, including a year’s tour of duty in Viet Nam. He was employed as a mechanic at Estep Motor Company.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Burrows; two brothers, Richard of Cedar Rapids, and John, serving in the Army at Fort Bragg, N.C.; and two sisters, Linda and Betty, both at home.
