GLENMORA, La., Nov. 7. - (Special)
-This community has been saddened by the death of one of it's oldest citizens. Mr. A. C. Whittington, who died November 3, at 8 p.m. He was born February 16, 1856, thus being 73 years, 8 months and 13 days old. He was reared in Rapides parish and lived in Glenmora for a number of years. He was married to Miss Belle Blackwell at Beaver Creek, September 17, 1891. Nine children were born to this union. He is survived by his wife and seven children and six grand children. The children are as follows: Mrs. W. M. Bail of Vicksburg, Miss.; Mrs. P. W. Eaton of Washington D.C.,; Mrs W. J. Dunkins of San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Frank Petite, Jr. of Monroe; Mr. Edgar, Miss Ada and A.C., Jr., Whittington of Glenmora. He is also leaves three sisters, Mrs. J. C. Pringle of Glenmora; Mrs. J. A. Roberts of Iowa, and Mrs. F. T. Seigler* of Elizabeth, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.
All the children were present at the funeral except Mrs. P. W. Eaton at Washington D.C. On account of illness she was unable to attend.
The funeral took place at the Baptist Church here on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 2 o'clock p.m. Rev. W. L. Stagg, Jr., pastor of the Baptist church, assisted by Rev. S. S. Bogan, the pastor of the M. E. Church South, conducted the services. The pall-bearers were: Messrs. A. G. Pringle, J. B. Phillips, R. P. Beck, Fred Stewart, Walter and Willie Godwin.
The floral offerings were beautiful. He was a member of the W.O.W. circle.
