Charles BLACKFORD, 89, Moville, a well and concrete contractor, died Monday at a nursing home at Kingsley, Ia. after a 2-year illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eldridge United Methodist Church. The Rev. John A. Dowd and the Rev. Vernon Aarnes will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery at Moville under the direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home.
Mr. Blackford was born 6 March 1882 at Cedar Rapids. He moved to Woodbury county and to Moville as a young man, and he had been a resident since.
On 15 November 1900, Mr. Blackford married Harriett (DOWNING) WARD. He married Edith REYNOLDS 18 September 1926 in Sioux City.
Survivors include the widow; 6 sons, Alfonso, Marvin, Everett and Jerry L., all of Moville; Bert A. of Downey, Calif. and Charles Jr. of Sioux City; a daughter, Mrs. John (Melva Jean) STEVENSON of Sioux City; 2 stepdaughters,
Mrs. George (Eunice) JOHNSON of Onawa, Iowa and Mrs. Dewey (Margaret) TOMLINSON of Moville; 2 brothers, Guy and Lloyd, both of Smithland; 21 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a great great grandson.
