NILES – Maudy P. Harrell, 93, of 1620 Ontario Road, died at 4:30 am. Thursday in Regency Place, South Bend, after an illness. Mrs. Harrell was born Aug. 30, 1898, in Coffee County, Tenn. She had lived in Niles since 1929, coming from Tennessee. On July 27, 1915, in Beech Grove, Tenn., she married Luther H. Harrell. He died Aug. 18, 1982. Surviving are four daughters, Pauline Rough of Niles, Barbara Smotherman of Tyler, Texas, Verda Webber of South Bend and Brenda Hawkins of Hawkins, Mich.; five sons, Emmitt, Violus, Luther H. Jr. and Kenneth all of Niles and Richard of Portage, Ind.; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Willie Lee Ensey of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Erain Betty Smith of Niles. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Halbritter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour before services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
