Roland P. McGee, 74, of 1012 Third St. N.W., died Tuesday (Feb.6, 1996) at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

There are no services planned. The body was a medical donation to the University of Iowa School of Medicine, Iowa City.

There will be no visitation. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa in his memory.

Roland McGee was born April 2, 1921, in Council Bluffs, the
son of Pusey and Helen (Robinson) McGee.

Roland graduated from Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln High School and attended the University of Omaha.

In June of 1942, Roland enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during World War II until his discharge in December of 1946.

He married Mary Baird on May 15, 1943, in Stamford, Texas.

The McGees moved to Mason City in 1955 and Roland worked for
Crocker Claim Service for 25 years.

He served as a magistrate for the State of Iowa for eight years, retiring in 1985.

Roland was a member of the 8th Air Force in England and was
shot down in a Berlin raid.

He received the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and other combat ribbons and medals.

Survivors include his daughter, Becky K. McGee of Duluth, Minn.; one son, William R. McGee and his wife, Alice, of Duluth, Minn.; and two granddaughters, Melanie McGee of St. Cloud, Minn., and Mandy McGee of Duluth, Minn.
