OBITUARY
Albert Adam Shonk, son of Jacob and Susannah Shonk, was born August 16, 1847 in Butler County, Ohio. On July 18, 1869 he was united in marriage to Clara A. Brosman, who died November 6, 1889. To this union, 8 children were born: C.W. Shonk of Arcola, Sarah, Mrs. Jake Clouse, of Marshall, Alma, Mrs. Bert Mathews of Marshall, who died December 25, 1931, Susie, Mrs. Henry Skates of Onarga, Lyman of Chrisman, Orville of Marion, Ohio, Myrtle, Mrs. G.N. Cox of Urbana and Harry, who died in infancy. He also leaves 25 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Mr. Shonk came to Illinois with his parents when young and settled on Dolson Prairie in what was known as the Claypool neighborhood. 59 years ago, he with his family moved to the vicinity of Spiketown where he lived continuously until in 1931 when he went with his son, Lyman to the Brocton and Chrisman vicinity. (Not sure which is correct for his middle name Adam or Addison)
