OBITUARY:

Abbie Jane Barter, 85, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at her home in Wiscasset surrounded by her loving family.

Abbie was born in Boothbay Harbor on March 27, 1926, the daughter of the late George and Pauline Day Lowery.

Growing up on Barter's Island, she attended local schools and worked at the fish factory. Abbie will be remembered as a woman who was a caregiver for her parents and her brothers when they were ill.
She was very proud of her five brothers who all served in WWII and had received medals for their bravery during war time. Abbie never asked for anything for herself, instead she did for others and gave her time and energy to them.

She was a homebody who worked around her home, she loved scrap booking from the Lincoln County News, doing puzzles and she loved to walk every day.

Her family will remember her for her famous biscuits and her chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting that she made for everyone's birthday.

Predeceased by her husband, Warren Barter
