HEMLER
Services are pending with Denton Funeral Home for Herman Hemler, 82, 512 N. Guadalupe St. He died Oct. 26, 1986, in the hospital.
Hemler was born July 17, 1904, in Alto, La., and he came to Carlsbad in September 1922. He attended barber college in Teas, and owned and operated the City Barber Shop for many years until he retired in 1966. He worked as a draftsman at the Carlsbad Air Base during WW II following his retirement he became an avid photographer and owned and operated the Hemler Post Card Company for several years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, traveler and gardener.
Hemler was a member of the Carlsbad Elks Lodge #1558, a former member of the Carlsbad Kiwanis Club, a life member of Eddy Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M. and Lake Arthur Lodge #35 A.F. & A.M. He was also affiliated with The Scottish Rite in Santa Fe, The Royal Arch Mason; Signet Chapter #9 Carlsbad, Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple, Albuquerque, Carlsbad Shrine Club, and Copano Shrine, Rockport, Texas, and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.
His first wife, Catherine preceded him in death in 1975. He married Lola M. Powell in Corpus Christi, Texas, June 18, 1976.
Survivors include his wife, Lola, Carlsbad; four brothers, John Vaughn Hemler, Howard Hemler, Archie Hemler, all of Carlsbad, and Albert Hemler, Farmerville, La.; two sisters, Louise Malone, Downsville, La., and Bernice Perry, Carlsbad.
Memorials may be made to Carlsbad Shrine Club, and Crippled Childrens Fund, 1408 Muscatel, Carlsbad.

Services for Herman Hemler, 82, 312 N. Guadalupe St., will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Denton Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Keith Lawrence of First Baptist Church officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Gardens Mausoleum, Eddy Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M. will conduct graveside rites. The Lodge of Sorrows will convene at 1:15 p.m. at the Masonic Temple.
Pallbearers will be Joe DiIaconi, Cecil Markham, Douglas Roberts, Guy Chowning, Stanley Johnston, H.H. "Bud" Linneweh, W.T. Parker and Loyd Weems.
