HEMLER
Services are pending with Denton Funeral Home for Vaughn Hemler, 81, 409 N. Guadalupe St. He died Feb. 19, 1987, in an Albuquerque nursing home.
His body will be returned to Carlsbad from Albuquerque on Friday.
He was born Oct. 4, 1905, in Alto, Richland Parish, La. He graduated from Baptist Montezuma High School, Las Vegas, N.M., and attended Baptist Montezuma College in Las Vegas. He worked for the National Park Service from 1928 to 1933 as the superintendent of trails. From 1933 to 1942 he worked with the National Forest Service.
He came to Carlsbad in 1942 where he was employed as a machinist with the Potash Co. of America. He retired from that position in 1970. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Machinist's Union.
He is survived by two sons, Ret. Col. John V. Hemler, III, Albuquerque, and Charles R. Hemler, Mesquite, Texas; a daughter, Mary Nettie Dore, Newark, Calif.; three brothers, Howard and Archie Hemler, both of Carlsbad, and Albert Hemler, Farmersville, La.; two sisters, Bernice Perry, Carlsbad and Louise Malone, Downsville, La.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services for Vaughn Hemler II, 81, 409 S. Guadalupe, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Denton Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Bacon, First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Tilman Wayne, R.L. Bates, J.T. Stephens Jr., Jack Perry, Ken Nelson and John Perry.
