John Beal came to Boston from Norfolk County, England in 1638 aboard the ship "Dilligent." He settled in
Hingham and was a Representative in General Court during 1649. His first wife, Nazareth, died in 1658 and he then married
Margaret, the widow of his friend Jacob. He died in 1688, aged 100 years. His son, Jacob resided in West Street, West Hingham.
He was Selectman from 1687 to 1693 and again from 1697 to 1700.
