He was born September 4, 1953 in Boise, Idaho, to Warren E. and Leone Campbell Wallace. He was a 1972 graduate of Borah High School in Boise. Gene worked as a truck driver for Deseret Industries in Boise and worked part-time as a taxi driver for Boise City Taxi.
Gene was an Eagle Scout and loved being in the mountains of Idaho where he enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He was a faithful, kind and humble man. He lived a life of sacrifice and service to his family and the Lord.
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Warren E. Wallace; three sisters: Luey Ann Wallace, Rosalie Wallace and Sheri Irene Wallace.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie Sue Estill; his three children: Steffanee Ray, Louis Andrew and Elizabeth Leone; three stepchildren: Melanie Anita Destaffaney, Scott Forrest Holdorf and Deborah Sue Holdorf; his mother, Leone Wallace; brother, Kent Eldon Wallace; and sister, Janeen Cundick.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Indian Lakes Ward LDS Chapel, 3555 S. Cole Rd. in Boise. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Arrangements are being provided by the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Deseret Industries or the Idaho Food Bank. A donation trailer and boxes for canned food will be located in the church parking lot on the day of the funeral.
