Graveside service for Elizabeth Davidson "Libby" Sandlin, 89, of Decatur will be today, May 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Reverend Rob Jackson Sr. officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sandlin, who died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Decatur General Hospital, was born February 8, 1922, in Decatur to Mae B. and Edwin Newton Davidson Sr. She was secretary to the former publisher of THE DECATUR DAILY, the late Barrett C. Shelton, and to the publisher, Barrett C. Shelton Jr. She also operated Eddie Sandlin Hardware and Gifts from 1965 until their retirements in 1989. Mrs. Sandlin was a member of Central Baptist Church, and she was one of the oldest members in age and length of attendance. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gray Sandlin; sister, Dorothy Davidson Riddle Christianson; and her brothers, James William "Billy" Davidson and Edwin Newton Davidson Jr.
Survivors include her nephews, Allan Davidson, Vance Davidson and Ed Davidson III, Robin O'Hara Davidson, Ragan Davidson and Mitch Davidson of Decatur; her niece, Cheryl Davidson Edewaard, Tom Edewaard of Summerville, S.C., Lauren Edewaard Madden of Charleston, S.C., and Ashley Edwaard of South Bend, Ind.; and great-niece, Noelle Marks, Allec Marks and Harrison Marks, all of Decatur.
