Cornelius A. Wood, Banker, 78, is Dead: Cornelius Ayer Wood, a banker and realty executive who earlier had served as vice president of the American Woolen Company, the corporation founded by his father, William M. Wood, died Saturday of a heat attack at the family estate, Arden, in Andover, Mass. He was 78 years old. Mr. Wood was named first vice president of the woolen concern in the same announcement that contained his father's resignation as president because of ill health. He too resigned soon afterwards. Later, Mr. Wood became president and a director of the Park Square Building Company, Boston; president of the Shawsheen Realty Company and a director of the First National Bank of Boston, and the Old Colony Trust Company of Boston. During both World War I and II, Mr. Wood served as a Naval officer and was subsequently elected president of the Navy League. Mr. wood leaves his wife, the former Muriel Prindle; a son, Rev. Cornelius A. Wood Jr., a daughter, Mrs. Muriel W. Ponzecchi, and six grandchildren.
