Son of James Raymond Chapman and Clara Inice Hart born on May 4, 1879 in Leon, Decatur, Iowa

Avery (Abe) Henry Chapman was married to Emma Rebecca Dunn at the home of her parents in rural Custer County, OK on 29 August 1900. After living and farming near Arapaho, OK for ten years they moved to Claremore, OK, then to Castleton, KS, then to Leedey, OK and finally to Pond Creek, OK where they lived until his last illness.

To this union were born five sons: Henry, Glen, Elmer, Alvin and Harold; and three daughters, Grace, Anna and Clara, all of whom survive, as well as many grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Nellie Dunn, and two brothers, Richard and Paul. Preceding him in death were his parents and five sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Fossett Funeral Home chapel in Enid with the Rev. Walter Gore officiating, assisted by the Rev. Elmer Watkins.
