Born April 14, 1925 in Abingdon, VA he was son of the late James Dallas & Mary Martha Orfield Puckett. He was retired from Cannon Mills. He was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Puckett, a grandson, Brian Perkins; sisters, Sarah Linker & Gladys Collings; and brothers, Robert, Claude, Harry, Garland, Earl & Taylor Puckett. Survivors include his wife, Rhogene Aesque Puckett; sons, Jackie & Gary (Bessie) Puckett, both of Mooresville, Raymond (Annette) Puckett of Kingsport & Ronnie (Pam) Puckett of Union Grove, NC; daughters, Mildred "Millie" (Ross)Perkins, Brenda (Mike) Ellis, both of Mooresville, Jewell (Albert)Gurkin of Williamston, NC; 20 grandchildren & 27 greats. Services will be Monday at the Neill Funeral Home in Mooresville, the Rev.Johnny Abee in charge. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Park. NOTE: In family records, his name given as J.D.Puckett, Jr.
