John was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp during WW II where he served his country honorably. John also retired after 27 years of service from W.S.M.R. as a Senior Electronic Technician. He had been a member of the Boy Scouts of America where he earned the Silver Beaver Award from the BSA and the 92nd Bomb Group USAAF/USAF Memorial Association. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his wife of 61 years Betty George of the family home; children John E. George II of Anthony, NM, Philip E. George and his wife Cecilia Figueroa of Las Cruces, Charles E. George of Las Cruces, Leland E. George and wife Patsy of Columbia, S.C., and Jeanette Austin of Las Cruces; sisters Margaret Jaeger and husband Ralph of Cheyenne, WY and Jane Butler and husband Dewey of Tulsa, OK. He is also survived by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Friday, Aug. 20, 2004 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Services are at 9:00 AM Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 also at Getz Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Jaeger officiating. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Charles, John, Leland, Phil, Stewart and Stephen George.
