Lucille attended school in Mullen and graduated in 1938. She married John Evert and lived in Hyannis for a number of years. They had three children, John (Gaylord), Marilyn, and Lewis. Lucille continued her quest for education and in 1962, after working 24 years; she received her college degree in teaching. She taught 38 years. She always wanted to make sure her children had opportunities to pursue a college education. She married Paul Jenkins in 1971 and lived her remaining years in Gothenburg.
Lucille was involved in the Order of the Eastern Star, the Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels, the Pony Express, Delta Kappa Gamma and other organizations. She enjoyed traveling in Nebraska, the United States, and abroad. She spent time with her children and grandchildren at the McConaughy cabin and during haying season. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and presenting large holiday meals. Lucille took and active interest in her farm and the family ranch. Her passion for education continued throughout her life time and she lived to see all her grandchildren receive college degrees.
Lucille is survived by: children, John Evert of Gothenburg, Marilyn (Joe) Srb of Columbus, NE; and Lewis (Trudy) Evert of Brady, NE; grandchildren: Marie (Cory) Kapels, Cindy (Matt) Tederman, JoAnn (Adam) Haworth, Amy (Kully) Harrison, Brandon (Virginia) Evert, and Kirk (Rachael) Evert. Lucille has 15 great-grandchildren: Logan, Caden, Carley, Gabriella, Isabella, Emilia, Waylan, Holly, Dalton, Brady, Kaitlyn, Clara, Grace, Addison and Aubrey. Lucille is survived by her sister's sons: Mike (Jeannie) Jackson and Dan (Karen) Jackson and their families.
Lucille was preceded in death by her mother when she was 14 years old, her father, her brothers Laverne and Elwin Johnson, her sister Evelyn Jackson and her one and a half year old great granddaughter Lynsey Marie Kapels. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Evert in 1967 and her second husband, Paul Jenkins in 1976.
