Vincent R. Welker, 87, Huntington, father of Washington Center school principal Richard E. Welker, died at 6:04 p.m. Tuesday in his home at 956 Harris street.
Mr. Welker had been in declining health several years and seriously ill for 3 1/2 weeks.
He was a retired farmer, a member of the Huntington Moose lodge and the Christian Church at Majenica.
He was born Nov. 6, 1873 in Grant county to Adam and Nancy Stotler Welker. On May 9, 1896 he was married to Goldie Rittenhouse, who survives along with two sons, Hershel of Huntington, Richard of Columbia City; two daughters, Mrs. Olney (Alma) Kreig and Mrs. Edward (Helen) McNally, both of Huntington county. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Pormen of Huntington county.
Friends will be received in Huntington at the Bailey Mortuary until the hour of the funeral. The Rev. Reuben A. Stauss will conduct the services at 2 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Pilgrim's Rest cemetery.
