He was finally laid to rest in September 2012, but without a headstone. Ridgelawn Cemetery donated the casket, vault, and grave site.
Since then, people across the country, especially Pat Breslan of Washington State, donated money to buy a headstone. She read about the story online, and felt compelled to help.
"I had to do something for him, and let people know that these children count, children like Christian, and not just turn a blind eye anymore," said Pat Breslan.
A dedication ceremony for the headstone took place Friday morning at the Ridgelawn Cemetery. Breslan attended the event.
"Now he knows that he's well loved, and could be happy now," said Christian's grandfather, Bernard Erik.
