Funeral services will be held at two o'clock, Monday afternoon, May 31, 2004 in the Ehrhardt-Bamberg Chapel of The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Homes with the Reverend Doctor Albert S. Allen, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Ehrhardt Cemetery.
Mr. Allen was born October 7, 1913 in Latta, South Carolina and was a son of the late Albert Sidney Allen and Nellie Hayes Allen.
He was a retired electrical engineer for the Charleston Naval Shipyard.
He was a 1939 graduate of the University of South Carolina.
Mr. Allen was a Registered Professional Engineer, a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the South Carolina Society of Engineers.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbia.
Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Mrs. Lois Folk Allen of Charleston; daughter, Sharon A. Strickland and her husband Stacey J. Strickland of Charleston; grandson, Michael Allen Strickland of Charleston; brother, Doctor Albert S. Allen of Columbia; and sister, Annelle A. Earles of Columbia.
