Delbert Brigham Brown

Early Life: Delbert was the first American baby boy born in Colonia Chuichupa, Chihuahua, Mexico, to David Brigham and Anna Helena "Annie" Rasmussen Brown on July 18, 1896. He was educated in the Juarez Stake schools.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: From 1920 to 1922, Delbert served a mission in Mexico. He married Irene Whetten on October 23, 1923; they were sealed in the Arizona Temple on October 24, 1928. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He lived in the Mormon colonies in Mexico before moving to the Provo/Orem area in 1947. Delbert has been a cattle rancher, farmer and was employed at Brigham Young University in the Physical Plant Department until his retirement in 1968. Delbert was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of which he held various positions in working with the youth in the Aaronic Priesthood and MIA. He served with his wife as an ordinance worker in the Provo Utah Temple. He was a devoted husband and father. Some of his happiest times were when the family gathered together on various occasions. He enjoyed gardening and, until recently, always had a large garden and loved to share his harvest with others. Delbert and Irene have always had an open door to anyone that was in need. Delbert Brigham Brown passed from this life on Wednesday, December 29, 1993, at his home in Orem, Utah, He was 97 years old.
Survived By: His wife, of Orem; six children: four daughters: Mrs. Delbert (Irene) Hessler of Yakima, WA; Mrs. Donald (Martha) Rasmussen of St. George, UT; Mrs. Theordore (Nila) Miller of Orem, UT; and Mrs. Ronald (Viva) Stanger of Provo, UT; two sons, Delbert B. Brown, Jr. of Burley, Idaho; and Leslie D. Brown of Provo, UT; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Three grandchildren and one great-grandchild are presently serving missions for the Church.
