Viva Brown Stanger, 63, of Provo died Monday, December 1, 1997 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.

She was born January 10, 1934 in Colonia Chuichupe, Chichuahua Mexico (Mormon Colonies in Mexico), the daughter of Delbert Brigham and Irene Whetten Brown.
She married Ronald Ray Stanger on October 4, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died May 12, 1994.

When she was ten years old her family moved to the United States, living in first Arizona, then in Colorado, and finally settling in Provo, Utah in 1947. She attended the Farrer Junior High School and graduated from BY High [in 1952]. She also attended Brigham Young University.

She worked with her husband Ron in his law practice in Provo for some 30 years. Viva was a homemaker and mother of five children.

Her hobbies included music, gardening, scrapbooking, family history, and devoting countless hours to her family and church. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities including ward music leader and primary president.

Survivors include four sons and one daughter: Ronald Allen Stanger, David Craig Stanger, Michael Ray Stanger, Robert Brown Stanger, Diane S. Fowles; 12 grandchildren two brothers and three sisters: Mrs. Delbert (Irene) Hessler, Mrs. Don (Martha) Rasmussen, Mrs. Ted (Nila) Miller, Delbert B. Brown, Leslie Brown.

Funeral services were held Thursday in Provo. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
