US Congressman. He moved to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1820, was clerk of the court of Pulaski County, (1825-29) and was a member of the Arkansas State Senate, (1844-48). In 1847, he was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-ninth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Archibald Yell and served the remainder of that term. Declining to run for a full term, he relocated to New York City and became cashier in a bank until his death at age 49.
