Benjamin Deardorff, who has been in feeble health for years at his home at Beechersville, did not linger long after the death of his older brother Isaac of this place. Three weeks later last Thursday night March 26 he passed away aged 8? years, 9 months and 14 days. Mr. Deardorff enjoyed robust health during his long life and often made the journey to the mountains of West Virginia on horseback for the purchase of cattle. When four score he made several business trips to West Virginia by horse and buggy. The funeral was held on Monday with interment at Mummasburg.
In his long life Mr. Deardorff had survived four wives and is survived by a fifth wife, an inmate now of the Harrisburg Asylum and the following children, Samuel and Anthony of Franklin township, Mrs. George Lady of this place. Miss Jennie at home, and Henry, Mrs. Wm. Stouffer and Mrs. Calvin Arendt of near Arendtsville, Dr. Benjamin of Nebraska and J Washington of Kansas City. He is survived also by 41 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
