Funeral services for Johnnie Holman, 95, of Locust Grove will be held on Friday at 1:00 at the Locust Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Blair will officiate with burial following at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Key Funeral Home in Locust Grove. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Locust Grove.

Johnnie was born on January 11, 1916 in Locust Grove to John Henry and Hannah E.(Toothman) Holman. He passed away on May 3 in Tulsa.

Johnnie was one of 9 children and a lifetime resident of Locust Grove. He attended school at Cave Springs School as a child, leaving school at an early age to help his family farming and ranching duties. Johnnie married Clara E. Sanford on December 21, 1935 in Locust Grove. They had 7 children from their union and raised them all in Locust Grove. Johnnie worked for the Local Iron Union # 584 in Tulsa. He worked all over the country as an iron worker doing many construction jobs. He was an excellent provider for his family, always putting their needs first. He also farmed and ranched some during his working years. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and also loved various different types of hunting. His hunting led him to love raising and taking care of his hunting dogs too and one of his dogs won a national championship many years ago for which he was very proud.

Johnnie was a longtime member of the Locust Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He has many good memories and many good friends from his church.

Johnnie was a loving, hard-working and honest man and he will be missed by all those who were part of his life.

Survivors include:
Wife-Clara of the home
5 Sons-Leroy Homan and wife Shirley of Locust Grove, Wayne Holman of Locust Grove, Jack Holman and wife Ann of Wagoner, Sam Holman and wife Melissa of Yukon, Randy Holman and wife Charlene of Arkansas;
2 Daughters-Geraldine Wynn and husband Curtis of Edmond, Brenda Buckley of Desoto, Texas; 14 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren; Many nieces and nephews and a host of other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
