BURIAL OF GASOLINE VICTIM WILL BE AT ELWOOD TUESDAY
Mrs. Minnie Arnold, 58, wife of Eugene Arnold, of Indianapolis, and an aunt of DeLoss, Ivan and Don Arnold, of this city, who was so terribly burned as a result of a gasoline explosion at her home Saturday morning, died later in the day in the Methodist hospital at Indianapolis. Her husband, who was also badly burned in the same accident, is still in the hospital, but his condition Sunday night showed some improvement. He suffers severely from shock, however, and the danger of pneumonia has been passed.
Funeral services for Mrs. Arnold will be held at the family home in Indianapolis Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, after which the body will be brought to the Holiness church at Elwood, where another service will be conducted at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, followed by interment in the Elwood cemetery. The Arnold family lived in Elwood for a number of years before going to Indianapolis, Mrs. Arnold having been born and reared there. Her maiden name was Todd.
The fatal accident occurred, while Mr. Arnold was filling the tank of a gasoline stove from a large can. Both he and his wife were showered with flaming gasoline. Their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Richardson, who occupied apartments in the same house, came to their rescue, and finally smothered out the flames.
