In 1850 he was married to Flora Jameson, and settled in Branch county in 1860. His wife died, and in 1879 he was joined in marriage with Elizabeth Hobson. Nine children were born to them, seven of whom, with the wife and four sisters, survive him. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Smith. of Ray, and burial southeast of Ray.
