BURMOOD - WHISENAND

Pearl Burmood of Wood River and M.E. Whisenand of Harvard were married at Aurora Thursday afternoon, January 9th. Mr. and Mrs. Paul R. Whisenand acompanied (sic) them. They will reside at the J.S. Whisenand home.

Marries Couple On First Day In Office

County Judge Bengtson took over the duties as county judge last Thursday noon and the same afternoon performed a wedding ceremony. The participating parties being Marion Ernest Whisenand, 60, of Harvard, and Pearl O. Burmood, 39, of Wood River.

Obituary, Whisenand -

Marion Ernest Whisenand, son of James and Alice Proctor Whisenand, was born at Griswold, la. on June 21, 1880 and passed away suddenly at his home near Giltner, Nebr., on Aug. 31, 1961 at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 10 days.

In 1896 he came with his parents to Harvard where they settled on a farm.

On March 10, 1911 he was married to Grace Jackson. Four children were born to them.

Mr. Whisenand was engaged in farming near Harvard until 1943 when he moved to his present home near Giltner.

On January 9, 1941 he was united in marriage to Pearl Burmood at Aurora. One son, William Jr., was born to them.

At the time of his passing he was a member of the United Church in Harvard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Wilbur, Steve, Ralph, and Paul; two sisters, Mrs. Bess Johnson and Mrs. Helen Bernardi.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl; three sons, William of Memphis, Tenn., James of Grand Island, Nebr., and Steven of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Clark of Reno, Nev., and Miss Sydney Whisenand of Burkey, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Alta Erickson of Stockton, Calif., and one grandchild and other close relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1961, at 10 a.m. at the United Church in Harvard, with Rev. E.A. Katterhenry officiating. Mr. Wilbur Pauley sang "Have Thine Own Way Lord," and "Abide With Me.'' His accompanist was Mrs. Ruth Voorhees. Casket bearers were Ralph Follmer, Clinton Traudt, Duane Stevenson, George Mersch, Bernard McMahon and Howard Turner. Interment was in the Harvard cemetery (sic) with the Higby Mortuary of Aurora in charge.
