Stephen H. Whisenand of Harvard, Neb., senior in the college of agriculture of the state university, died on the eve of graduation at the home of an aunt in Des Moines, la., Monday. The death followed an illness lasting for more than a year during which the student kept at the school work which would have given him his diploma in less than a week. Mr. Whisenand was a student of unusual ability. He took a prominent part in all school activities and was popular with his classmates. He was a member of both the stock judging and the dairy teams which represented Nebraska in various contests. He was also a member of the Farm House and Alpha Zeta fraternities. The young man was forced to leave school this semester on account of ill health caused by Bright's disease. He was on his way to Still Rock hospital at Waukesha, Wis., accompanied by his sister, Miss Helen Whisenand, when the death occurred. He had stopped over at Des Moines, Ia., with an aunt intending to resume the trip Monday. His brother, Wilber, a graduate student at the Illinois state university at Champaign, will accompany Miss Helen and the body to Harvard. Mr. Whisenand leaves three sisters and four brothers besides his parents. The funeral will be held from the home at Harvard Friday.
