Samuel O. Derbyshire, 86, died early Sunday morning at his residence, 1702 S. Elm St., following an illness of two years.
A lifelong resident of Delaware County, Mr. Derbyshire was born Feb. 26, 1872, in Mt. Pleasant Township and came to Muncie in 1895. He was a 50-year member of Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Burnam of Muncie; one son, Paul C., of Muncie; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at the Meeks Mortuary at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Ray Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after noon Monday.
