Bernard Wayne Furgerson, 72, Who had been a machine shop foreman for Goodyear Farms for 42 years before retiring in 1979 died Oct. 12 in a Valley Hospital.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Cordy Funeral Home, 310 N. Litchfield Park Road, Goodyear, where visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Furgerson who moved to Arizona in 1921 from his native Oklahoma, lived in Litchfield Park for the past 30 years and was chief of its Volunteer Fire Department during the 1960s. He also was a self-employed gunsmith for many years and was a member of the Estrella Rod & Gun Club. Survivors include his wife Ethel; three daughters, Eloise Hembise, Linda Lamm and Leslie Backer; two sisters; a brother; and three grandchildren. The family suggests contributions to Arizona Baptist.
