MRS. PHAENE (ORVA) HIBBS
Orva D. Fjelland Hibbs was born Sept. 20, 1915, in Story county, Iowa, and passed away at the Yocom hospital in Chariton, March 25, 1959, at the age of 43 years.
She was reared on a farm near Huxley, where she was graduated from high school in 1933.
She was united in marriage to Phaene Hibbs in 1935. They lived at Anthon, Ia., Osceola, and moved to Chariton in 1941, where they have since made their home.
To this union were born four children: Duane, Hammond, Ind., Barbara Shelton, Mt. Pleasant, Ia., Larry and Thomas, of Chariton.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, Douglas and Karen Shelton; three sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Jeffrey Richardson, Mrs. Adrian Halverson, Mrs. John Griffith, Herman Fjelland, Hubert Fjelland and Roger Fjelland, and her step-mother, Mrs. A. A. Fjelland. There are also a number of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Mrs. Hibbs had been active in the Presbyterian church, Women's Club and many community activities.
Services were held Sunday, Mar. 29, at the First Presbyterian church, with the Rev. John Orange officiating. Interment was at the Chariton cemetery.
