The funeral will be held Jan. 11 for Alfred Abramson of Eugene, who died Jan. 7 of age-related causes. He was 86.

Abramson was born Sept. 17, 1915, in Fulda, Minn., to Frank and Emma Bergman Abramson. He married Julie Miller in Fulda on June 21, 1939. He moved from Fulda to Eugene in 1964, and later lived in Creswell, Lowell and Springfield.

He owned a farm and worked as an equipment operator for the city of Eugene. He retired in 1981.

He was a member of the Eugene Eagles Aerie and the Good Sam Camping Club. He attended several area Lutheran churches. Before moving to Eugene, he served on the Fulda Co-op Board.

The Willamalane Senior Center of Springfield honored him for volunteering his time there.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Abramson Buechler Wenzel of Hanska, Minn.; two sons, Ronald and Douglas, both of Springfield; a sister, Edna Evers of Rochester, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A grandson, Michael Buechler, died previously.

Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Springfield Lutheran Church. Friday's service will be at 1 p.m. at the church. Private burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Springfield Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Lutheran Church or a charity of choice.
