On October 9, 1948 he married Geneva Gengler, daughter of Syl & Margaret Gengler, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Chesaning.
He was a father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, farmer, mason, carpenter, and an antique and tractor collector. His favorite thing to do was to go to auctions. He was a very loving, helpful, caring man who always put others first. He was ready to help anyone and everyone at anytime.
He moved from Owosso to the Marion area in 1970. He went to work for Peter Schierbeek Construction. Later he worked for Frank England Construction from which he retired in 1990. Fritz and Geneva owned and operated Good Friends Antiques of Marion from 1983 - 2010.
He was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Eagles of Marion. He was a former Knights of Columbus member.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Geneva; five children, Janice (Jeffery)Young of Owosso, Mary (Jim) Wright of Marion, Fred (Linda) of Neebish Island, Robert (Deb) of Marion and Ed (Linda Lou) of McBain. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, Wayne Todd (Debbie) Bushard of Marion, Troy (Jamie) Bushard, Melissa (Brian) Bachus and Tyler Young of Owosso, Rick (Robin) Bushard of Elsie, Richard (Lena) Schoch, Tina (Chuck) Ankney, Jamey (Doug) LaVansler, Jay (Jessica) Wright, Cathy (Scott) Bear of Marion, Sheila Mosher of Cadillac, Timothy (Jennifer) Steinaway of Sugar Island, Stefanie (Dale) Miller of Roger City, Julie McDaniels, Shawna McDaniels, Crystal (Troy) Salisbury of Marion, Amy (Matt Lane) Schoch of North Carolina, Daniel (Deanna) Schoch of McBain. He is also survived by 41 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and 13 foster children. Fritz is also survived by 2 brothers, Harold of Oakley and Bernard (Mary Ann) of Chesaning and two sisters, Mary Ellen (Jerry) Hoover and Lois (Frank) Struck of Chesaning.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lola and a brother –in- law, Bill Ruhl and a sister–in-law, Laura Schoch.
A Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in St Agnes Catholic Church with Father Joe Fix officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Marion Eagles or St. Agnes Catholic Church.
