Harold Eugene Schoch, 81, of Brady Township, passed away on February 20, 2012, in the Ashley Care Center.

He was born in Brady Township, Saginaw County, Michigan, on July 20, 1930, to the late Floyd and Marie (Coonrod) Schoch.

Harold married Laura Ann Korth on August 2, 1951, and was drafted into the Army on September 7, 1951. He returned from Korea on May 19, 1953. He and his family lived in Chesaning, Michigan, for about four years.

In May 1957, Harold moved his family to a farm in Brady Township. He farmed his 40 acres, and helped his father-in-law farm his 100 acres while working at the G.M. Truck Plant in Flint. Harold retired from the factory with 31 years of service on February 1, 1980, and continued farming until January 1, 2001. Harold and Laura shared more than 55 wonderful years together in Brady Township and on their Centennial farm, before she passed away on August 17, 2006.

Harold loved everything to do with farming. He took pride in the appearance of his crops, his property, and the condition of his tools. If something needed to be fixed or repaired, he figured it out. One winter, he found a stray puppy in the back woods. He brought her home on his John Deere gator. Laura named her Tipper and, though the pup was "Laura's" dog, Tipper and Harold rode that gator together for years.

Harold was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brady.

Harold is survived by his five children, James H. (Sherry) M. Schoch of Marshall; John C. (Deborah J.) Schoch of Chesaning; Pamela Jo Eastman of Greenfield, MA; Joseph F. (Rebecca Jo) Schoch of Corunna, and Ann Marie Schoch of Greenfield, MA; twelve grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Ellen (Jerry) Hoover of Chesaning and Lois (Frank) Struck of Chesaning; and brother Bernard (Mary Ann) Schoch of Chesaning.

Harold was preceded in death by his sister Lola, and his brother Fritz.

Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church (M - 57 and Hemlock Rd) at 11 a.m. The family will be present at the church to receive family and friends on Thursday starting at 10 a.m. Pastor David Mielke will officiate, with burial in Wildwood Cemetery in Chesaning. The Chesaning American Legion Post #212 will perform a military salute at the cemetery.
